Goals
Turner broadcasting own a number of high profile TV channels including Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and Boomerang. One of those channels, Cartoon Network UK, commissioned a youth orientated anarchic cartoon series entitled The Amazing World of Gumball, a 2D, 3D and live action series made by Turner's European development team.
Cartoon Network was looking for an online destination to help promote the show with teaser videos, character info and a game, in advance of the show's global TX on 2 May 2011.
Solution
We worked closely with the Gumball development team to develop a teaser site that would best position the brand online and be a central hub for all Gumball content, making sure we captured the anarchic and irreverent qualities of the show.
The site was made through the eyes of the characters in the show, showing Gumball and Elmore having built it themselves out of cardboard, crayons, tape and stickers. Central to the site is Gumball’s ‘webcam’ area which features the main characters in their living room, each one with an interactive element, giving visitors the opportunity to find out more and interact with them.
You can watch specially created videos of the show and download Gumball related goodies such as desktops and chat icons. We also developed retro styled 8 bit game Suburban Karate Master to accompany the TV show, commissioned to provide extra interactive content for the site.
Results
The site launched on 18th April and is currently acting in its primary function as a teaser for the show.
